Open-source non-profit foundation from Germany and Taipei City will explore new possibilities of applying the blockless protocol Tangle to improve data integrity and authenticity concerns in different domains. The initial project is going to be digital citizen cards with a built-in TangleID. It addresses such issues as identity theft, fraud, healthcare, inter-organization and inter-city data exchanges.
Another potential lies on the plain of data marketplaces and micropayment business models will shape the future. IOTA teamed with BiiLabs, a startup that focuses on distributed ledger technology, to incorporate Tangle and data marketplace into the smart city.
A project that is already underway is Airbox. The goal of the project is to design small air sensors that detect temperature, humidity, light and pollution. The collected air quality data is then shared online. BiiLabs will import Airbox in Tangle in oder to implement incentivized payment in IOTA.
