TechCrunch has reported in the beginning of 2018 that Telegram messenger is preparing to release its own crypto currency and distribute it through ICO, and that Gram will serve as a coin for the Telegram Open Network (TON) and will be directly integrated into the Telegram platform.
Recently, a well-desigend website Gramtoken.io claiming to be the host of the ICO for the Telegram messaging app appeared on the web, and started collecting ETH for fake GRAM tokens since January 1, 2018. Nevertheless, no official statements from Telegram developers regarding ICO did not apperar.
This is scam. Be careful.
— Pavel Durov (@durov) 15 January 2018
On January 16, one of Twitter users asked CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov, if Gramtoken.io was official Telegram ICO, and Pavel Durov replied that Gramtoken is scam, and that users have to be careful. This tweet is currently the only official statement referencing Gramtoken.io., and no more statements regarding Telegram ICO have appeared yet.
